# Samples and lead times: how a first order actually runs

Most second-source projects stall in the same place — not on price, but on whether the buyer can prove the part works before committing to volume. This page sets out how a first order runs with HGCHIPS: what the sample quantity is, what ships with it, how long stock and non-stock lines take, and what to send us to get a usable answer.

Samples and lead times apply to the memory and power lines we carry: DDR3 (1.35 V / 1.5 V, VFBGA-96), DDR4 (1.2 V, FBGA-78/96) and LPDDR4 / LPDDR4X (up to 4266 MT/s, VFBGA-200), plus ADI LTM46xx / LTM80xx µModule drops. State the original part number, target density (for example 8 Gb) and quantity when you request a sample, so the quote can be matched to the correct speed grade and package.

At a glance

## The numbers that decide a first order

### Sample quantity

**From 10 pcs** — enough for incoming inspection, validation on your platform and a burn-in check

### Sample cost

**Credited against your first production order**, so validating before you commit does not add to programme cost

### Stock lines

**48h dispatch from Shenzhen** on parts we physically hold

### Quotation

**Within 24 business hours**, including the compatibility check

### Lot documentation

**Per-lot inspection and validation records**, plus datasheets and compatibility notes for the part number

### Material compliance

**SGS / RoHS / REACH** statements where applicable

Sequence

## How a first order runs, step by step

1. **Send the exact marking from your BOM**, your monthly usage and the grade you need. The marking matters more than the family name: suffix letters change footprint height, temperature grade or packing, and a substitution that looks right on paper can fail on the board.
2. **We return a compatibility check and quotation within 24 business hours** — the fields compared against the original datasheet, the grade quoted, and the lead time for that grade.
3. **You order samples from 10 pcs.** Sample cost is credited against your first production order.
4. **Validate on your own platform.** Patch measurements and a working prototype are not the same as qualification — test at your temperature extremes and run a burn-in check.
5. **Release production.** Stock lines dispatch in 48 hours from Shenzhen; scheduled shipments and firm pricing are available for long-lifecycle programmes.

Documentation

## What you can see before you commit

- **A sample test report for your target part number** — ask for it before ordering, not after.
- **A live video test on WhatsApp** — watch the qualification run rather than reading a PDF.
- **Datasheet and compatibility notes** for the specific HG part number, including the original part numbers it is mapped against.
- **Per-lot inspection and validation records** , shipped with the lot — records tied to the lot you actually receive, not a generic certificate.
- **SGS / RoHS / REACH statements** where applicable.

If a supplier cannot show per-lot records, you cannot know which die revision you are approving. That is the test to apply to us as much as to anyone else.

Lead times

## Stock versus non-stock — and why we quote rather than promise

Lead time is the one number a supplier cannot honestly generalise. It depends on the part number, the grade, and whether we physically hold the lot. So we split it:

| Case | What we state |
| --- | --- |
| Part held as stock | **48h dispatch from Shenzhen** — quoted from a physical position |
| Non-stock, standard grade | Confirmed lead time in the quotation, per part number |
| Long-lifecycle programme | Scheduled shipments with firm pricing, so unit cost does not move with the spot market |
| Grade not held | We say so and quote the lead time for that grade, rather than offering a different grade |

Scope

## What this page does not claim

Sample and lead-time terms are indicative until confirmed in a quotation, and they apply to the specific part number and grade quoted. Nothing here replaces the qualification work on your own platform — a delivered sample that boots is not an approved part.

FAQ

## Common questions

### What is the minimum order quantity for samples?

Sample quantities start at 10 pcs. That is normally enough to run incoming inspection, functional validation on your own platform and a burn-in check, which is the same sample plan described in our qualification checklist.

### Is the sample cost credited against production?

Yes. The sample cost is credited against your first production order, so validating before you commit does not add to the programme cost.

### How fast do stock lines ship?

Stock lines dispatch in 48 hours from Shenzhen. Non-stock and long-lifecycle quantities are quoted with a confirmed lead time rather than a promise, because the honest answer depends on the specific part number and grade.

### What documentation ships with a sample or a lot?

Per-lot inspection and validation records, datasheets and compatibility notes for the specific part number, and SGS / RoHS / REACH statements where applicable. A sample test report can be shared before you order.

### Can I see a test report before committing?

Yes. We share a sample test report for your target part number, and you can book a live video test on WhatsApp to watch the qualification run rather than reading a PDF.

### How long does a quotation take?

Compatibility check and quotation within 24 business hours. To get a usable answer rather than a catalogue link, send the exact marking from your BOM, your monthly usage and the grade you need.

### What if the grade I need is not in stock?

We tell you that rather than substituting something similar. Industrial-grade parts (-40 to +95 C) are held in dedicated lines; where a grade is not held, the quotation states the lead time for that grade instead of offering a different one.

## Request samples or a quote

Send the exact marking, your monthly usage and the grade you need — we reply within 24 business hours with the compatibility check and the lead time for that grade.
